HERMIONE'S EVERYDAY SOCKS WITH MANOS DEL URUGUAY

I have always wanted to knit a pair of socks! Well, I am so happy to have finally checked this off my knitting busket list!

When I was sent a lovely Manos del Uruguay - Alegria skein from Fairmount Fibers I immediately knew it had to be transformed in a cozy pair of socks!

I chose to knit up this lovely pattern of the Hermione everyday socks I stumbled across Raverly! The socks are knitted on two circular needles, but as I have never worked with two circular I opted to make my socks using dpns. I found a great post with all the necessary adjustments made to knit the pattern on dpns. Thanks Mindy!

The yarn was a dream to work with! Manos yarns are produced by skilled artisans in cooperatives located throughout Uruguay and each skein of yarn purchased helps a woman in Uruguay to support her family. I used Alegria for my socks; a very soft superwash yarn (75% superwash merino, 25% polyamide) making it ideal for socks! It comes in a huge variety of colors (really making it difficult to choose a favorite) but as usual I went with my all time classic greyish shade (Foil)! The yarn really works up lovely and one skein is qute enough for knitting an adult pair of socks!

The pattern is really easy to memorize and very straightforward. A relaxing knit which kept me company during these last weeks! The only thing I changed is that I knitted the instep entirely in stockinette stitch!

These socks were so very simple and quick to make and I think they'd be a great project for someone wanting to try sock knitting. I really love them.

Have you ever tried sock knitting?

P.s My yarn bowl is from Artstreet 52.
