CROCHET NEWBORN SLIPPERS

A good friend of mine recently had her first baby girl! I was so excited that I immediately started thinking of far too many projects and patterns I could make for the little one!

I came up with this idea for the easy baby slippers when I was going through my yarn stash and spotted the bright pink and red yarn by Rico Creative Cotton laid side side! I fell in love with the combination and started working on the cutest mini slipper pattern ever!

Basically although I made these in a newborn size you could easily adjust it to make it work for your desired measurements! I find this size chart (scroll down for foot sizes) pretty handy but there are many other detailed size charts out there  as well! According to the chart most newborn sizes for slippers, booties etc. are measuring around 9-10 cm (3.5 to 4 inches).

Materials:
100% cotton yarn ( I used Rico Creative Cotton)
5mm H/8 crochet hook
yarn needle

Pattern:
Using 5mm H/8 hook  and MC make a magic circle.
R1: 6 sc in circle.
R2: inc in each st around (12)
R3: 1 sc in next 2 sts, inc in next st (16)
R4: 1 sc in next 3 sts, inc in next st (20)
R5-7: sc in each st around (20)
Change to CC
R8: sc in next 16 sts, leaving next 4 sts unworked. Ch 1, turn (16)
R9: sc in each st across, ch1 turn (16)
R10-15: Repeat R9
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Turn the heel to the inside and with your sewing needle sew the two heel edges together. You could even sl st them together using your hook.
Fasten off and weave in any remaining ends.
Make as many of these easy baby slippers as you like in a variety of colors.
